June 3, 2006

The Lord’s activity has been so visible these past few weeks. We are so thankful He is the Lord of provision through so many of His serving hearts and hands.

CitW has been blessed by an area caterer for some time. He has donated food 5 days a week. The leftover food has blessed not only CitW, but Restoring Hope. Restoring Hope is a ministry serving not only the homeless in west Raleigh, but the homeless in Cary and the Cary prostitutes. This ministry, like CitW, is following Jesus’ lead bringing the “least of theses” food, drink, and clothing, as well as God’s Word and prayer. The caterer’s school business has come to an end, still having the summer party business. The Lord knowing this sent His servants to an area grocery store to pick-up food. The food, as well as the blessed burden of picking it up and delivering it to those in need, is being shared by 5 area ministries from The Lord’s Cary/Apex “Body of Christ” group.

The “Body of Christ” group has been such a blessing to so many. One ministry, Helping Hands of Apex, has received “extra” donated cases of canned goods and Ensure for families and Elderly in Apex in need. Another ministry, Hope Chest, receives furniture and has the use of an 18ft covered truck. They have been able to transport furniture to those moving into apartments. Food was donated to feed those working on a transitional home for ex-cons in Raleigh today. Food has been shared to feed Hispanic families in Apex, Brazos de Cristo, and another elderly population, as well as the Cary homeless and prostitutes. What a blessing to see the Body of Christ in action!

Transform NC is a group of Wake County pastors who pray for Wake County every Thursday morning. One of the pastors has been so convicted, he and his congregation is adopting a homeless person. The Lord and His perfect timing!!! The support circles used by the Katrina victims is now part of ending homelessness’s 10 year plan A new pastor from the Cary/Apex are has joined this group.

Evolving from this group has started a new CitW’s outreach near the prayer meeting every Thursday at 11:30. Please pray for the Lord’s provisions for this new outreach.

Several people are ready to move into apartments this month. The grant money for housing was only available through May 15th. Please pray for the Lord to provide money for deposits for the month of June.

One blessed couple who was blessed to receive grant money last month is expecting a baby in November. An area church has received baby items for them. Hope Chest was able to retrieve their items from a storage unit as well as donate other needed items for their apartment. God is so good!

The Thursday evening Bible study was blessed by donated pizzas, veggies, peaches, and desserts and rolls. The lesson on integrity was missed placed and the Lord blessed the study with a lesson on Salvation and Sanctification. The facilitator used a crayon and paper to draw how Christ penetrates your life. This was the first time in months that one lamb moved in close and participated with the group. He was being convicted of areas on sin. Another lamb wanted to take the crayon drawing home to ponder. He asked continual questions. A missionary has tried to duplicate it as a short PowerPoint which is available on the blog. The study will continue next week. Missionaries realized what a blessing the visual aides were Thursday evening and felt the Lord’s leading to ask that you please pray for a donation of a laptop computer.

One missionary family has lost the use of 2 family cars used to pick-up people for church Sunday morning, limiting the number of people attending church in Apex to 1-5 people depending on their son’s work schedule. For the last two weeks the missionaries have had to tell people they couldn’t take them to worship with their “home group”. Can you imagine the hurt hearts of those who are told “no, those who have to say “they can’t there isn’t enough room” as well as, the Lord heart??? Please pray for the Lord to provide serving hearts to offer to take people from Garner to church in Apex and home again. The Lord has provided food for everyone for lunch, but His workers are not able to bring the willing lambs to His banquet.

There are so many of the Lord’s lambs we are blessed to sing His praises.
Two of the Lord's lambs assisted last Saturday and Monday with food pick-up. They have received so much and feel so blessed, they want to give back to the Lord.

One lamb is a non-substance abuser. He is a hard worker and looking for work. Please pray for the Lord to provide a job for him.

One of the Lord’s lambs decided he needed help to “kick” his substance abuse problem and by God’s grace was able to be part of the program through the Raleigh Rescue Mission.

A second couple has been adopted by church in Fuquay. Thank you Jesus!

One of the Lord’s lambs decided this last hospital visit was ENOUGH and returned to an outpatient substance abuse program and AA. God being so gracious, the program forgot to remove him from the program last year, his place has been held and the program can continue with the process of getting him hearing aides and medication to stop the cravings of alcohol. Please keep this lamb in your prayers. He, too, wants a job.

One couple lost her disability check and the Lord blessed them with jobs cleaning apartments. The property manager is requiring them to attend AA meetings to keep their jobs. They should have enough money saved by the end of June to move into an apartment in July. They are asking to return to church. Praise God!

One of the Lord’s lambs has found an opening with a transitional disable room in Vermont. He left Thursday morning on the bus. Before leaving he called a missionary to pray with him over the phone then another missionary took him to the bus station. God is such the awesome provider!

The Lord’s lambs in WV, both, have jobs now. She is caring for an elderly woman in the woman’s home. She has such a compassionate heart. Her stress test went well last week as well

The Lord’s lamb in CA is doing so wonderful since his procedure in April. He is attending AA, riding his bike and enjoying time with his family. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. He may be eligible for the liver transplant list this fall. His life is such a testimony to how mighty of a God we serve. Please pray he has many opportunities to share it with others.

One of the Lord’s lambs has chosen alcohol over his job. He was hospitalized Saturday for passing on a greenway near a major road. He will not come to the door when missionaries go to his home. Please keep him in your prayers.

Another of the Lord’s lambs wants to take a DWI class to receive her driver’s license. Missionaries will no longer take her to the class because she hasn’t been sober for the required time period. Please pray for her to understand why it is so important to be a person of integrity. Also pray for the DWI classes. A missionary called, and they do not check whether the person is telling the truth or even attending AA. The missionary was told if they come to a class smelling like alcohol, they might use a breathalyzer.

We are thanking the Lord for you, your generous serving hearts, and your prayers.
