June 16
We are thanking the Lord for you, your prayers, and your generous hearts. So many of you have given to those moving into apartments this week. The items needs to go from living on the street and all your belongings fit in a backpack to living in an apartment.
The Lord provided items last weekend for one lamb moving into an apartment. The Body of Christ ministry (ministry of many faith based Wake county ministries serving the Lord's "least of these") was able to donate furniture and a truck. Two of the Lord's lambs from the Thursday/Sunday outreaches volunteered to lend a hand and back. The Lord with His perfect timing sent a family who was "downsizing" their home while the Lord's lambs are "upsizing" theirs. Please continue to pray two other apartments are being inspected today (the building was in a fire and has been rebuilt, we are claiming as the walls of Jerusalem as in Nehemiah). The applicants were asked to call back today at 11.
The first tropical storm of the season flooded one of the Lord's lambs out of her job and motel room. The Red Cross placed her at a high school for a night and then in a motel until Monday. Please pray she still has a job and thank you Jesus for the extra nights she doesn't have to pay for a place to stay until her apartment is ready. Her room was flooded, socking her belongings with water and mud.
Please also pray for those sleeping outside in tents, boxes, abandoned buildings, leantos, or just under the stars. Many of the Lord's lambs lost their clothing and bedding with the "almost 8 inches of rain" we were blessed to receive.
One of the Lord's lambs, missionaries have not been able to find for a few months. She lives in her car. She was found Sunday morning in an abandoned parking lot. If she is able to find someone to watch her puppy, she would like to attend church on Sunday.
An area business' seasonal worked has significantly increased. The Lord is answering prayers for those who are in need of work. Please continue to pray for transportation for those wanting to work and not willing to walk several hours to get there and back.
One of the Lord's lambs working at a retirement home has called asking for prayers for one of her elderly friends. She returned from the hospital and isn't doing well. Please keep her friend in your prayers. This lamb is considering joining AA Monday evening. She has been attending on and off since October. Please keep her in your prayers as she considers making the commitment of giving her alcoholism to the Lord.
BBQ chicken and pork left in one of the missionary's refrigerators earlier this week, while the missionary went to pick-up an area grocery store's deli "trash", someone else dropped off baked beans. After praying for a salad, an area church called asking if CitW could use 5 large (Sam's club or BJ's size) bags of lettuce, grape tomatoes, salad dressing, and watermelons. Ask and you shall receive, abundantly!
Tonight our homeless Bible Study group started Nehemiah. The group plans to read and discuss a chapter per week. The Lord's lambs were awesome sharing ideas about the wall, obedience, disobedience, burning in hell, Jesus came to gather the scattered... Our Hispanic translator/missionary wasn't there tonight. The missionaries were bumbling through, and then the Lord graciously provided Hispanic family, around 8, to rescue the large Hispanic group as well as the missionaries. God is so good! After the study the lambs wanted prayer. As missionaries were praying with people, one of the new lambs accepted Jesus as his savior. The tears of repentance and the Holy Spirit poured down his face. Thank You Jesus. The missionaries praying with another lamb could feel the spirit moving in him and the resistance of the lamb. He, too, had tears of repentance. Please continue to pray for these lambs as they walk the path leading each closer to the Lord. One of the lambs who know Jesus wanted his "vino"last night. As he brought the "vino" to his lips, he became physically sick, remaining sick the rest of the evening. He asked for prayers and prayers of forgiveness for attempting to drink in the presence of his little "compodra". Several laid hands on him and prayed.
Another gift of the evening was one of the Lord's lambs who has enrolled in a substance abuse program was granted leave to attend last night's outreach. The program usually does not allow lambs to leave the program site for 30 days, this is only day 16. The first chapter of Nehemiah spoke so personally to him. The lamb was ministered to by another lamb. The ministering lamb had received this lamb's apartment and job last week. We are so thankful the Lord granted the pass. Please continue to pray for the lamb as he continues to program. Allow this to be a time the lamb grows closer to the Lord.
Pray for a lamb as he has been paid for the first time in months, temptation and available substances are great! The Lord provides such a network of Holy connections. This lamb has been blessed with a job, working with one of his friends from the Healing Place. He and his supervisor have the same sponsor. God is amazing! These Holy connections have the ability to keep each accountable, just as each Christian is to encourage others in their walk.
