An area denomination held a women’s retreat in Apex with 200-300 women. The women were asked to bring items for the Cary and Apex missions and tutoring programs. We have attached photos of the generosity of these women. We are in AWE and thanking Jesus for His mighty abundance!

The snacks donations are so overwhelming that the chewy granola bars, peanut butter crackers, and raisins have been shared with the Brown Bag ministry. Brown Bag, we thank Jesus for you. You prepare over 500 bagged lunches each week!
Another ministry needed snacks for a conference this weekend! Thank You Jesus for Your mighty abundance!
The remaining items with be used with the tutoring program or bagged as groceries for so many families in need! Talk about Manna from Heaven.

As for the photo of clothing, over 100 coats were collected, along with hats, scarves, gloves, men’s, women’s and children clothing. An area church has donated their building to host “Fiesta Day 2” on October 11 from 11-1. The clothing will be given away there. The Brown Bag ministry will be supplying the bagged lunches and a local caterer the soup. A mariachi band will be performing, as well as, people giving their testimonies. Contact Carola for more information at 372-9750 or if you would like to volunteer. Please pray that the Lord provide bowls, spoons and napkins.

another lamb met Jesus last week

Please keep Diane in your prayers for the loss of her husband. She had quit her job to become his full-time caretaker over 6 months ago. Pray that she continue knowing her true Provider, true Comforter, true Friend. Pray she, in God’s perfect time, is able to regain employment.
Her husband Steve has been sick for quite some time. He passed away a couple of days ago. We are thanking Jesus, Steve had accepted Jesus as his Savoir early when the mission began in April of 2007.
Interestingly, they live a few homes away from Maria’s family.

September 22, 2008

Please keep Bob in your prayers. He is taking an oral chemo to extend his life. 31% of the people who take this drug, live a year. 24% who don’t take it, live a year with this type of lung cancer. After a quick walk into the grocery store and the Dollar General, Bob was winded. His case manager has called in to have someone who deals with people with cancer to come and spend time with him, help with things around the house, and possibly errands. It may possibly be someone from hospice.

God is so gracious, the day after Maria and baby Rosa died another women in the second Apex mission gave birth to baby Ryan. we were able to hold him yesterday and get some photos. Ryan’s mother also had gestational diabetes and blood pressure issues. We ask the Lord, how he chooses who to take and who to leave. His response was “Maria was ready and other isn’t,” so pray that she will be when her time comes.

Please continue to keep Maria’s family in prayer with their losses and travels.

Maria's family update

From my understanding, Maria woke Thursday unable to see. After resting, she felt fine. The family had dinner. She, later that evening, went into convulsions. EMS was called, she coded at the house and was revived. She coded again on the way and couldn’t be revived. Baby Rosa was dead on arrival as well.
It was beautiful to see the neighborhood come together as the news trickled from home to home. God is so good, bringing such compassion and love.
The family has no money for this unexpected crisis. The most inexpensive way for her to be buried is to have a funeral home send Maria and the baby to Mexico. The cost, including burial in Mexico and airline tickets for Juan, Jesus, and Juan, is about $7000. Please pray that the Lord provides without additional hardship on the family.

Prayers for Maria and her family

I sent the email below last month, but today I ask that you pray for Maria’s family again.

Maria joined Jesus last night.
She had blood pressure issues and asthma so severe last night, she was taken to Cary Wake Med, and didn’t survive the night. Her son, Jesus, (age 10) called me this morning to tell me the news, bless his heart, not something a 10 year old should have to do.
Keep her husband, Juan, sons, Jesus and Juan, and her father (Papa) in your prayers.
We can thank Jesus that Maria knew Him and at Fiesta Day, August 16th, she asked that her unborn daughter know Him as well. We don’t’ know if her unborn daughter, Rosa, was delivered or not. She was due in October. We thank Jesus that her sister-in-law, Christina, lives across the street.
We thank Jesus that Maria’s grandfather is in safe housing in Durham.

We thank Jesus that He, in His perfect timing, brought a Hispanic Church to serve Him in the mission this summer. Carola and Gilbert, what a blessing you and your church have been! We thank Jesus that the children have been involved with the Backyard Bible Club for over a year. Talli thank you for listening to Jesus and starting it at the mission, and Stacy, Tiffany, and team for continuing it. God is so good!

What a foundation Jesus has laid here with brothers and sisters in Christ to support this family and neighborhood! God is so faithful!

As we find out anything, we will let you know of any needs, other than prayers.
